‘Olde Time Fun’ For Everyone ... With Lemonade!

I never saw so many people in the Mansion concerned about the weather during the first week in June. Then I realized the level of concern was because Saturday, June 5, was “Olde Time Fun in the Park.” Of course they should be concerned. Rain would force all the activities inside. I scurried about trying to help volunteers get things organized to take to the park. Herb Garden a Springtime Treasure

Spring is here and there are stirrings throughout the Mansion. Windows are being washed, rugs cleaned and walls painted. There is something about spring that makes me think of new beginnings. I am actually feeling guilty about not participating in all of the activity. Why waste a beautiful day like today inside? I think I will venture into the garden and see what is happening there. Snow, Snow, Snow! Let it Snow!

What fun I have been having! The snow shoes in the attic certainly encouraged me to get out and about. The funny thing is that the few pedestrians along Ninth and Main did not seem to be as pleased as I was about the current weather conditions. The pristine, white blanket of snow conjured up images of skating on the farm pond, sledding down hills, and ending the day roasting chestnuts in the fireplace. Monroe Gets In the Spin of Things

My what a large group in the meeting room! I think I will stay here in the fireplace and just observe. Now at closer look I recognize many of our visitors. This must have to do with tours for students because I see so many of our volunteers; however, today they are not dressed in Colonial costume. There is a woman whom I have never seen before. She is laying out colorful skeins of wool, gorgeous woven cloth and even some sheep’s wool. Now she is talking to the group and demonstrating something I have not seen in many years. This could be very interesting. I think I will stay and be part of the group.
