As winter approaches, I
thought I should take advantage of the warm
autumn day and venture outside of the Mansion.
After skirting the perimeter of the property, I
looked for a place to take a nap. I scurried
through the brightly colored leaves on the Ninth
Street side of the Mansion and spotted the ideal
location for a nap under the sun. The grooves in
the millstone made it easier for my vertical
climb. I stretched out across the warm top of
the millstone and in no time at all I was in
dreamland.

September 2009
I am delighted the school
year has begun because I have missed the class
visits to the Stroud Mansion. The youngsters are
delightful, and always ask interesting
questions, and make intuitive comments. I just
wonder if students today realize how different
schools were from a long time ago.

What an exciting way to
celebrate my first anniversary as the official
mascot of the Stroud Mansion. I had no idea that
anyone even remembered! When I arrived at the
park on Ann Street, I was totally surprised. The
music, activities, and especially the children
just made for a celebration that I will always
remember.

Spring is just around the
corner, but who would believe it? Here at the
Mansion everyone thinks it is time for spring
cleaning. I am not very excited about this, but
on the other hand, I am not one to be left out.
I know there will be something for me to do.
I’ll lend a hand in the Reading Room and
Library. There are nooks and crannies there that
only I can reach.

January 2009
Two thousand nine - I can’t
believe that Abraham Lincoln would be two
hundred years old this February. This brings
back memories of his 100th birthday. That
occasion certainly brought some national
attention to Monroe County. President Lincoln
never visited here, but the young man who served
as his “representative recruit” in the Civil War
was born here and is buried in the Stroudsburg
Cemetery.
