1 p.m. at Skytop Lodge
This year’s annual
Victorian Tea and Luncheon features an entertaining living
history lecture and performance about the private life of a
fashionable Victorian lady — with an onstage costume change
presented by costume designer and historian, Barbara Meyer
Darlin. She will change into the outfits worn by a
turn-of-the-century lady in a typical day, and model two
ensembles for day wear, complete with all the
unmentionables. Throughout the program, Ms. Darlin will
explain the role of women in Victorian society, including
daily routines, social customs and etiquette.
The event will be held at Skytop Lodge in Skytop, Pa.
Social hour begins at 1 p.m., with luncheon served at 2
p.m. The outstanding menu begins with a fresh mesculin
green salad and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Fresh fruit
kabobs in a mint-yogurt sauce will accompany tea sandwiches
featuring cucumber, cream cheese & watercress and
chicken and apple salad. Baskets will overflow with scones,
muffins, and quick breads topped with your choice of fresh
jams, preserves, orange marmalade and lavender-clover honey
sweet butter. A delicious assortment of desserts including
petit pastries, cannolis, and chocolate mousse tarts will
complete the meal.
Wear your prettiest hat! Vintage clothing is encouraged!
RESERVATIONS WITH PAYMENT will be accepted until March
15.
